QVC to open new service center in Krakow

QVC announced that it will lay off 220 people in Pennsylvania / US and will be relocating part of its HR, IT, finance and legal departments to the southern Polish city of Krakow, “BizPhilly” reported on their website.


QVC CFO Ted Jastrzebski announced the move to workers on Wednesday last week. Some of the employees to be laid off have been with the company since the 1980s. The lay offs are expected to start in 2017.

– Many of the world’s largest companies have a global business services organization in Poland,” the QVC statement said, “leveraging the country’s high-quality business environment, workforce with multi-lingual capabilities, and lower cost which enable seamless support for the U.S. and Europe -, QVC said.

QVC is an $8.8 billion company with 17,000 employees that broadcasts in seven countries. It shipped 173 million products in 2014.

I was actually following that news and I have to admitt that is a great choice not because I am living in Krakow , but because Kraków became a city that hosted a big famnous known companies in the world. A lot of International companies has already transfered their services to Krakow where they have on the place a professional technical services and execellent unique customer service. I by myself have applied to the GBS IT Leader position and I am fully hope that I will work for such well recognised and great company like QVC.
