After the ŁKS Commercecon Łódź volleyball players won silver in the 2017 / 18 womens volleyball championship, Grot Budowlani Łódź secured third place of the women’s volleyball league in the decisive match for the bronze medal. In the third match of the best of three play off series, Budowlani won 3:2 in Rzeszów.
In the two previous meetings, both teams used the advantage of their own field and in the battle for two wins the play off series was tied with a 1:1 draw. The series came to an end in Rzeszów, where during the course of the season the players of Grot Budowlani Łódź lost twice.
The third attempt, however, turned out to be a happy one, although victory did not come easy. Following two successful sets, the Rzeszów players found their way back into the match, taking the meeting into tie-break. However, the earlier efforts by the Łódź team paid off as they secured the decisive set by 15:11, winning bronze in the over women’s volleyball championship.
This is the second medal for Łódź volleyball in this season. Earlier this week, ŁKS Commercecon Łódź came in second in the championship, winning overall silver.
Overall, this season was the most successful one in club history. The team of coach Błażej Krzyształowicz won the Supercup ahead of the season, the 2018 Polish cup and bronze in the championship.
