Finally some good news for Widzew Łódź. The funds for the continuation of construction of the new stadium have been confirmed and planned into the city’s budget for 2016.
Until now, fans of Widzew Łódź did not have anything to worry about in terms of the construction of the new Widzew stadium. From a sporting point of view, things could be a lot better. Playing in the fifth Polish league, Widzew was expected to top the league with clear aspirations for promotion, however, after 19 games, Widzew find themselves in 4th spot and 9 points behind leaders KS Paradyż.
Given the current situation that surrounds the club, good news are welcome and good news it is indeed. On the 30th of December, Łódź City Council confirmed the 2016 budget which included 80 Million PLN ( exactly 80 351 000 PLN ) for the completion of the already started construction of the new Widzew Łódź stadium at al. Pilsudskiego 138. The sum itself is a little more than actually needed and the club plans to use the extra funds for unforeseen work that may occur as well as the completion of the interior such as the dressing rooms.
Completion of the new stadium is planned for November 2016. The club anticipates to plays its first game at the new stadium in spring 2017. The stadium will have a capacity of 18,000.
