A prosecutor’s office in Poland has opened investigations into whether fascism was promoted at a nationalist rally which took place in Białystok last Saturday.
Hundreds gathered at a rally, which was organized by the far-right organization ONR, to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the organization’s foundation. Police have submitted video footage of the rally to the prosecutor’s office which in turn has 30 days to decide on whether to press charges against participants of the rally.
In addition to the probe of possible promotion of fascism, the office also investigates whether participants of the ONR rally made insults to national, ethnic, racial, or religious affiliation.
In Poland, promotion of fascism can carry a prison sentence of up to two years.
