Polish rail companies owed over 200 million PLN in unpaid fines

According to Radio Poland, Polish rail companies are owed 209 million PLN by people who were travelling without a ticket and failed to pay the fines after getting caught.

As the news outlet stated, the data was gathered by Economic Information Bureau (KRD). It shows that this figure increased by six percent compared to last year. 246,000 issued fines still remain unpaid.

– Although this is not a huge increase, it is evident that some passengers still have not established a habit of paying their tickets. For some people, this is a one-off event, while some others regularly ride the trains without a ticket,- said Adam Łącki, the head of the KRD.
