Poland marks 71st anniversary of Auschwitz liberation

– Auschwitz is not only a museum, not only a massive grave. it is and always will be a warning to the whole world,- the Polish president Andrzej Duda said in a speech on Wednesday as Poland marked the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.


– What might happen if international law is violated, and the international community does not react in time? What could happen if some states behave aggressively towards others, if they invade their territories; if they wage war and hatred? Therefore, Auschwitz is, and will always be a warning,- the Polish president said in a ceremony held on Wednesday.

27th of January was established as International Holocaust Remembrance Day in memory of the more than six million victims of the Holocaust and the more than 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, killed in Auschwitz.
