Police in Poland have summarized the long May weekend during which over a dozen-thousand officers were deployed across the country to ensure road safety.
During the May long weekend police recorded 356 accidents in which 30 people were killed and 477 injured. Officers detained 1571 drunk drivers. The data shows that the outcome of this year’s holiday weekend is better than in the same period last year.
During the 2016 May weekend, 35 people died on Polish roads and 86 more were injured while 1745 drunk drivers were detained.
In the Łódź region police recorded 46 traffic accidents which killed three and injured 54 people. Despite numerous appeals by police not to drink and drive, officers detained 126 drunk drivers.
