Around 450 people had to be evacuated from a building and its surrounding area in the center of Łódź this morning (24.08.2017). The evacuation took place at around 9am following the discovery of an undetonated WW2 missile.

As Radio Łódź reported, several hundred people had to be evacuated following the discovery of an undetonated WW2 missile. The discovery was made by workers at a building at ul. Rewolucji just before 9am.

Dariusz Kaszkiewicz, from the Łódź regional headquarters explains that police officers evacuated the building as per standard procedure. According to the news outlet Radio Łódź, the unexploded device was a WW2 artillery missile with caliber of 85 – 88 millimeters.

Following the safe removal of the device, the situation in the center of the city returned to normal at around 13:30.
