A flair of Christmas can already be felt throughout the city of Łódź. As every year around this time, council workers are busy putting up the Christmas decorations around the city center. Following last year’s success, the Christmas market on Piotrkowska will be open from this Friday, 1st of December, with plenty of attractions in store for visitors.
Just like last year, the city’s “official” Christmas market will run along Piotrkowska. Between the 1st and 23rd of December, residents of Łódź will be able to enjoy, among others, listen to concerts of Christmas carols by Polish stars and take part in family games and activities.
In addition to wooden stalls offering mulled wine and food, an “angel mill”, which will be located at the central point of the market at the Schiller’s passage, a “corner under the mistletoe” and the village of Santa Claus, will guarantee fun for the whole family.
The Christmas lights will officially be switched on at a ceremony held at 17:00 at pl. Wolnosci with the decorations running all along Piotrkowska down to al. Mickiewicza.
This year’s Christmas decorations will consist of 180 elements which will not only brighten up the city’s main street but will also allow for plenty of photo opportunities for those who are looking for a special memory of this year’s Christmas period. The cost of the illumination is estimated at around 800 thousand PLN and consists not not only of providing the illumination, but also assembling and servicing all elements of the nearly 180 decoration.
