“Revolution” at MPK Lodz met with criticism

The plan to remove MPK buses from the city center of Lodz completely has been met with great criticism.

The idea of removing MPK buses from the city center has been met with sharp criticism. The draft plan for public transport, which was created by a firm hired by MPK, would see buses removed from the center, leaving commuters only with the tram network to travel across the city.

A similar plan was executed in Antwerp in 2013. Buses were banned from the center, because they were blocking the streets during rush hour. Suburban stations, where the communters can switch from bus to tram were created.

Whether or not city officials and MPK Lodz will go ahead with this plan is not yet clear, however, the citizens of Lodz will have to accept some changes if the current traffic situation inside the city will be improved.
