PKP Intercity honours Artur Rubinstein on Łódź – Warsaw route

Passengers of PKP Intercity voted for names of 16 intercity routes, 1 for each Polish province. One its Łódź – Warsaw route, passengers voted for “Rubenstein”, in honour of the globally renowned pianist Artur Rubenstein who was born in Łódź.

The voting was held between the 29th of August and the 4th of September on the PKP Intercity Facebook Page. For the Łódź – Warsaw connections, passengers were able to chose between “Rubinstein”, “Warszyc” and “Modrzewski”.

Born in Łódź in 1887, Artur Rubenstein was a Polish classical pianist. He received international recognition for his performances of music written by a variety of composers and many regard him as the greatest Chopin interpreter of his time. He was described by The New York Times as one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century. Rubenstein played in public for eight decades.
