Łódź has become the first city in Poland where public transport passengers are able to buy tickets using their mobile phone. The new MPK Łódź “pay with your mobile” ticket system is now available to passengers.
Łódź is at the forefront of Polish cities in terms of paying for public transport tickets. – Passengers can buy them in all vehicles, we have over 135 traditional points of sale, via our online store and now passengers also have the possibility of buying their tickets using their mobile phone – says Krzysztof Kaminski, vice president of MPK Łódź.
All passengers have to do is install the mobile app of their bank on their phone, get a “BLIK code” and enter the code on our ticket machine. The issued codes are valid for 2 minutes which is sufficient time for passengers to enter them into the machine. All that is needed is sufficient funds on the account.
Since the start of the BLIK system in February last year, more than 3 million transactions have been made. The codes can be used to pay in shops, cafes and for various services.
