At least 30 stalls, an artificial ski slope, an ice rink and even live reindeer will be the highlights of the festive street fair on Piotrowska. The Christmas market is back after a year break due to the renovation of the Lodz promenade. It will open on Friday, December 12th.
The event is called “Lodz under the tree” and its motto is “Fall in love with the Feasts”. In the area of Schiller passage there will be at least 30 stalls where you can buy, among others, cheese, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, beer, toys and Christmas decorations.
6 stalls are intended to be free of charge for creative artists. On Monday, the competition winners will be announced. Also, other creative artists can count on discounts.
– We want the fair on Piotrowska to be comparable with the best, but keep the character of Lodz – explains Maciej Zebrowski of Brandation agency, which is responsible for organizing the Christmas fair.
Almost all the stalls are already rented.
– However, if you are willing, we can expand the market – he adds.
In addition to the stalls there will also be other attractions. In the Schiller arcade an artificial ski slope with a length of 30 meters will let fun seekers get a taste of their upcoming winter holidays. An open-air ice rink will let you work on your pirouettes. And over the pre-Christmas weekend (20-21 December), the fair will be hosting a St. Nicholas village with two live reindeer.
– Every day something interesting will happen at the fair – said Zebrowski.
The Lodz Christmas Fair will cost the city 100 thousand. zloty, which comes from the EU funds out the pool for the promotion of creative Lodz. It’s two times the amount spent on the last fair.
Decorated with thousand balls of Christmas decoration in the colors of the logo of Lodz: yellow, pink, blue and white, the 21 – meters high Christmas tree and all other decorations will cost approx. 400 thousand zloty.
