A group of German citizens was brutally attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning on Piotrkowska in Łódź as they approached one of the nightclubs. They were attacked because they spoke German.
The incident took place during the night of Saturday to Sunday as the group enjoyed a night out in the center of Łódź. As the “Dziennik Łódzki” reported, the group of 3 German citizens, among them a Pole who has been living in Germany for 20 years and holds German citizenship, was attacked just outside the Czekolada nightclub at around 4am on Sunday morning.
The attackers were described as being drunk and aggressive as they descended upon their victims for speaking in German language. One of the victims was hit in the face with a bottle and was taken to hospital with facial injuries. He was discharged from the hospital at around 8am on Sunday upon his request.
So far police have not been able to apprehend the attackers and the victim is said not to have pressed charges. The German consulate in Łódź was notified of the incident.
