From the 29th of February 2016, rail passengers in Poland will find it easier to book tickets for their journey. A new portal, combining all rail companies in Poland, will launch.
The new platform will give passengers the opportunity to purchase all travel tickets in one place, says Maciej Dutkiewicz, co-founder of the portal KOLEO.PL. – On longer journeys, passengers often need to change trains, for example from PKP Intercity trains to regional transport trains. Until now there was no single system that would allow passengers to buy a ticket for the whole journey using multiple carriers. With KOLEO, passengers can buy their tickets for all connecting trains. This is the first system of its kind in Poland – says Dutkiewicz.
Passengers increasingly buy their tickets via mobile ticket vending machines. There is a growing number of tickets purchased via the Internet. – We hope that the portal will allow us to reach new customers – says Anna Lenarczyk of Łódź Agglomeration Railway. – At the moment we sell around 4,000 tickets per month via the internet. We hope that with the introduction of this new platform we will significantly increase this share – she added.
The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
