It wasn’t meant to be for the volleyball ladies of Grot Budowlani Łódź. In the first of the two-match final series of the 2016 / 17 Orlen Liga (highest Polish women’s volleyball league), the hosts were defeated by visitors Chemik Police by 3:0 a the Atlas Arena yesterday evening (14.04.).

As the 2016 / 17 Orlen Liga season draws to a close, the two-match final series for the title of 2017 Polish champions is being battled out by Grot Budowlani Łódź and current Polish champions Chemik Police. With a 3:0 advantage from the first match, which took place at the Atlas Arena in Łódź yesterday evening, Chemik Police is going into the second and final match with a clear advantage as they will play the return leg in front of their home crowd.



However, nothing is lost yet for Budowlani. Though it will be a tough ride on Wednesday in Szczecin, as the Łódź team has to win by 3:0 or 3:1 in order to take the match to the decisive “Golden Set”, during this season the team of trainer Błażej Krzyształowicz has proven more than once that they can come back from a disadvantage. With one more match to go, Grot Budowlani Łódź still has everything to play for.

The final and decisive match between Chemik Police and Grot Budowlani Łódź will played on Wednesday 19.04. at the Azoty Arena in Szczecin. Broadcasted live on Polsat Sport, the match is scheduled to start at 20:30.
