Volleyball club Grot Budowlani Łódź confirmed that they have signed Agata Witkowska as the team’s libero for the 2017 / 18 Orlen Liga (highest Polish women’s volleyball league) season.
The news of Witkowska’s signing comes after the announcement was made that Paulina Maj-Erwardt will be taking a year-long break from volleyball action. Maj-Erwardt was the team’s libero during Budowlani’s successful 2016 / 17 season during which the team won silver in the championship and came in second in the Polish cup.
Agata Witkowska is not a new face to the club. The 27-year old has had a spell with Budowlani Łódź from 2012 to 2014 before transferring to Atom Trefl Sopot and eventually playing at Italy’s Seria A team Futura Volley Busto Arsizio last season.
– I am very happy that after a few years of break I will once again represent the colors of Budowlani Łódź. The club made great strides, resulting in a silver medal. I hope that next season we will be able to achieve the same, and perhaps even more -, said Agata Witkowska.
