The Polish national football team has started its journey at the Euro 2016 tournament with a 1:0 win over Northern Ireland this evening. The goal for the red and whites was scored by Arkadiusz Milik.
Poland started off strong, putting pressure on Northern Ireland throughout the first half, however, were unable to put the ball behind Northern Ireland’s goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
The second half started as the first ended with a dominant Polish side pressing towards goal. Poland’s efforts were rewarded when Arkadiusz Milik found the goal in th 51st minute following a pass by Jakub Błaszczykowski.
Polish fans had a reason to worry in the 72nd minute as Conor Washington burst into the box after an error by Artur Jędrzejczyk but Wojciech Szczęsny kept his cool and the clean sheet for Poland.
Poland’s next opponent in the Euro 2016 Group C will be World Champions Germany. The match will take place on 16th of June at the Stade de France in Paris.
