Whit Sunday in Poland. Shopping centers and supermarkets to remain closed

In Łódź News, Polish News

This weekend Poland marks Whit Sunday or “Zielone Świątk”, a religious holiday celebrated 7 weeks after Easter Sunday. Whit Sunday is considered a public holiday, therefore shopping centers and supermarkets will remain closed on Sunday (04.06.17) .

Many Poles spend Whit Sunday with their families, gathering to have picnics or outings in the country side. The “green holiday” is also used to decorate houses with green branches and bless the houses and their residents.

Supermarkets and shopping centers will remain closed on Sunday. Small shops such as Fresh Market or Żabka may be open at the owner’s discretion.
