Heavy snowfall in Poland leaves thousands of households without electricity

Heavy snowfall and strong winds on Wednesday (04.01.17) have left some 15,000 households in Poland without electricity. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, temperatures are expected to fall to as low as -18 in some parts of the country.

According to the weather forecast, heavy snowfall is set to continue in regions close to the mountains.



In the north-east of the country, temperatures are set to plunge over night as arctic air arrives in Poland. Temperatures are expected to fall as low as -18 degrees celsius.

Police in the Łódź region are calling on the public to assist with the search of homeless people during the winter months. If you see someone in need, do not be indifferent, call the authorities. A quick telephone call to police or city guards might save a life. Authorities can be contacted on the numbers below:
