Stadler, the Swiss train manufacturer, decided to open a service plant in Łódź. The decision was announced on Wednesday (30.08.) following the examination of two possible locations in Poland, Warsaw and Łódź.
The company said that it will open a service plant for their ‘FLIRT 3″ train series which is also used by PKP Intercity. The service plant will be located at ul. Wróblewskiego and al. Jana Pawła II made up of an area of approx. 6.5 ha.
– This is an example of good cooperation between the city authorities and PKP, and at the same time very good news for the city itself. Stadler is one of the leading companies in the industry, one of the leading companies in the world – emphasizes Adam Pustelnik, director of the investor assistance and international relations office.
The Swiss company was keen to finish the formalities as soon as possible, as it wanted to start investing. If everything goes according to plan, the service plant will be built within two years. Within the plant Stadler intends to service its FLIRT3 trains and will create jobs for 50-70 people. – But it’s only the beginning, because employment can be increased. Everything depends on the dynamics of the development of the company in Poland – adds Pustelnik.
Stadler Rail’s revenues amounted to 2.2 billion Swiss francs in 2015.
