The long May weekend is ahead of us and most Poles will be taking Monday off in order to make the most of the public holidays on 1st and 3rd of May.
Sunday 1st of May traditionally marks labour day in Poland. Next to falling on a Sunday this year, labour day is a public holiday and most shops and restaurants as well as all malls and supermarkets will remain closed.
Tuesday 3rd of May is Constitution Day, which commemorates the enactment of the Polish Constitution that came into effect on 3rd of May 1791. Malls and supermarkets will remain closed and public transport will adopt Sunday’s schedule.
Mini markets such as Żabka or Freshmarket may be open at the owner’s discretion.
