According to a report on the commercial real estate market, published by UMŁ (Urząd Miasta Łodzi), the city is on the rise and the trends for the future are equally optimistic. According to the report, the city is becoming a major business hub in Poland.
Demand for office space in Łódź continues to grow
According to the report, The amount of modern office space in Łódź amounted to 360,000 sqm at the end of 2016. This makes Łódź the sixth largest regional market in Poland. Additionally, there are currently 130,000 sqm of office space under construction. The new space is scheduled to hit the market by the end of 2018.
The growing number of office space directly relates to the growing demand which Łódź experienced over the past 4 years. In 2016 alone, 68,000 sqm of office space were rented to new tennants.
Retail in Łódź
Łódź is the sixth largest commercial market in Poland. The total supply of modern retail space in the Łódź agglomeration amounted to almost 555,000 sqm, spread over 16 objects. Two of the five largest shopping centers operating in Poland are based in Łódź – Manufaktura with 110,000 sqm and Port Łódź with 103,000 sqm of retail space.
New Center of Łódź Program
The City of Łódź report also presents the idea of the New Center of Lodz program, which assumes the revival of the dead space near the closed EC1 power station located at the Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station. The project is to create a center of entertainment and culture with a wide range of leisure activities and is the largest urban planning in the history of the city.
