60 residents of an apartment block at ul. Podgórna in Łódź had to be evacuated from their building in the evening hours of Friday (20.10.17) . Fortunately the alarm turned out to be false.
Emergency services were called to the residential building at ul. Podgórna in the Górna district of the city on Friday evening. According to Radio Łódź, police and firefighters intervened as an elderly resident of the building was suspected to have locked herself in her apartment and was believed to have switched on the gas within her apartment.
Joanna Kącka from the police headquarters in Łódź says that nobody was injured and that the alarm turned out to be false. – There was a report from someone, most likely from the family, that the tenant had locked herself in the apartment and was believed to have switched on the gas. We intervened together with the fire brigade, cut off the gas supply to the building and evacuated its residents. Police went into the apartment of the lady but there were no indications that the gas was actually turned on -.
