600 million PLN for additional new trams and renovation of tracks

Łódź City Council intends to invest 600 million PLN in the improvement of public transport infrastructure. The investment will include the purchase of 30 additional new trams and renovation of tracks.


Hanna Zdanowska, mayor of Łódź, explains that the city is preparing to expand its tram network. The city plans the reconstruction of six existing tracks as well as construction of two complete new sections to integrate the recently finished route W-Z into the tram network.

Along with the reconstruction of 11km of tracks, the city also intends to purchase 30 additional trams to extend its fleet of modern rolling stock. The investment is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020 and will cost 600 million PLN.
